Tour de Sez 3 - Guernsey to Amsterdam
(September 2018)

Our fourth Official Fundraiser was also our third Tour de Sez and it pushed boundaries even further in more ways than one. Comprising 85 cyclists and 15 support staff over a greater distance, it took in four countries - France, Belgium and Germany before entering the Netherlands for its final stages. This Tour had idyllic weather and the terrain was refreshingly flat.

This Official Event required investment of £140,000; generated income of £294,000 and contributed £154,000 to reserves.

The Trustees once again wish to thank main sponsor First Central Group for their support of this event, all other sponsors and everyone who contributed financially.

Tour de Sez 2 - Guernsey to Bilbao
(September 2016)

This was our third Official Fundraiser and our second Tour de Sez. Distance and number of participants increased on this more ambitious Tour. The weather was bad and the cyclists had to contend with steep inclines as they tracked around the foothills of the Pyrenees into Spain.

Undeterred, the 65 riders and 10 support staff all reached Bilbao safely and on schedule. This event required investment of £81,000; generated income of £223,000 and contributed £142,000 to reserves.

The Trustees wish to thank main sponsor First Central Group for their support of this event, all other sponsors and everyone who contributed financially.

Kilimanjaro Climb, Tanzania
(September 2014)

On 1st September 2012, just six months before she died, Sarah successfully climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Childreach International. She also visited and fell in love with the nearby Mgungani School, which we have since supported financially (please see Use of Funds).

This was our second Official Fundraising event. On 25th August 2014 twenty-five people, comprising Sarah’s family, friends and acquaintances, left Heathrow for Nairobi. They were joined by a twenty-sixth member meeting up from Australia. After a gruelling 10-hour bus ride into Tanzania, the first day was spent re-visiting Mgungani School. The climb began the following day, which followed in the exact footsteps that sarah had taken on her climb.

We reached the summit exactly two years to the day after Sarah. Following a small ceremony at the summit, we scattered some of her ashes and said our fond farewells. This was not only a fundraising mission; it was an entirely fitting and hugely emotional way to remember her and her adventurous approach to life.

This event required investment of £47,000; generated income of £77,000 and contributed £30,000 to reserves.

The Trustees wish to thank everyone who contributed financially.

Tour de Sez 1 - Guernsey to Paris and Back
(May 2014)

In the aftermath of Sarah’s tragic death, Gary Hooks and Leon Howard cycled from Guernsey to Paris to place a padlock on Le Pont des Artes in her memory. This incredible gesture was the catalyst for our first Official Fundraiser and our first Tour de Sez, Sez being Sarah’s nickname. In May 2014, 50 cyclists and support staff returned to Paris and placed another padlock in exactly the same place.

This event required investment of £50,000; generated income in excess of £105,000 and contributed £55,000 to reserves. It was to become the precursor of much greater Tour de Sez events in the future.

The Trustees wish to thank the Bonsai Group for their sponsorship of this event and everyone else who contributed
